cordelianne: (Lost Ben Delicious Ham)
Thanks to [ profile] tkp for tagging me!

If you've been tagged, you can (if you want) write your answers in your own LJ and replace any questions that you dislike with a new, original question.

01. Make a list of 5 things you can see:
Framed picture of my girlfriend, cuteoverload one a day calendar (it’s penguins today!), Torchwood calendar, tea mug with pouch (for teabag), and schedule for my staff.

02. What are your thoughts on the BSG finale?
Disappointment. Massive disappointment. I don’t think I’ve ever been this dissatisfied by a show’s finale. I’m so disappointed it’s left me unenthusiastic about the show in general. I’m a pretty easy person to please in terms of TV, and will be pretty forgiving of shows. But I don’t feel that this finale (especially the last hour) was in keeping with the show, it felt like another show entirely, a crappy show I wouldn’t have watched. (I think I’m in my bitter stage about the finale now!)

03. Is there anything in your fridge right now that you dislike?
I’m at work so the entire fridge is generally gross. And currently I’m house-sitting for my parents and my mom left me stuff, so nope!

04. What's your occupation?
Customer Service Manager and part-time student (to get my Masters of Information to become a Librarian).

04. Do you nap a lot?
I would nap all the time if I could!! Any chance I have on the weekend, I'll nap, and I have to restrain myself from napping on the couch at work.

06. What was your first celebrity crush?
I’m not a big celebrity crush person. Generally I’m disinterested in celebrities. Instead I get really into fictional characters so there were lots of literary heroines I loved as a kid (eg. Anne of Green Gables, Laura Ingalls Wilder). If I really look back I can remember thinking Jared Leto was really cute… but again that was as Jordan Catalono on My So-Called Life.

07. What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
My fandom is still BtVS/AtS but my current TV obsessions is definitely Lost. I have been really pleased and engaged by this season. There’s been some fantastic twists and reveals. It’s a show I’m totally enraptured by the entire time it’s on. I was surprised to find that I like Sawyer/Juliet and find the whole Darmaville story/time travel thing really neat. I can’t wait for next week’s Ben-centric episode – he’s one of my favourite characters (I feel Michael Emerson is an awesome actor who can infuse so much meaning in a simple phrase).

08. What are you listening to right now?
Radiohead’s "All I Need" from In Rainbows

09. What was the last text message you received?
From the girlfriend: “Yay, reunited with the umbrella.” Last night I’d thought I’d lost my umbrella (an umbrella I love) so I texted her excitedly this morning to say I found it at work, so that was her response.

10. What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Rogers yahoo email, LJ, gofugyourself, cuteoverload, Entertainment Weekly (especially the popwatch blog). Entertainment Weekly is my favourite magazine and I extensively read the website. It’s where I get most of my pop culture info!

11. What was the last thing you bought?
Hmm, I guess toothpaste isn’t really what’s being asked, is it? Oooh, my last purchase was a BIG one: a plane ticket to Rome in July for a vacation with my girlfriend!

12. Why are you doing this meme?
I thought it could be fun.

13. Does the weather affect your mood?
Oh yeah, I always find on dark days I’m low on energy and tired.

14. What station is your TV programmed to turn on to?
Cablepulse24: a local Toronto news station that always has weather displayed on it. I’m all about being informed on the weather.

15. What was the last thing you cooked?
Haha! I don’t really cook. Seriously, I hate to cook so I generally make food that involves minimal preparation and doesn’t really count as cooking.

16. Weird dream?
I had a convoluted dream about Lost in which friends and I were watching the series finale and it was revealed that everyone on the island had known each other before (they were all from the same community) but something had happened causing everyone to have to pretend they didn’t know each other and scatter. So that’s why the Others stole kids – because they were really their kids all alone (and they’d somehow been separated from them). And also in another weird twist Sun’s daughter ended up being a clone of Jin (I think I may have gotten cylon stuff with BSG mixed in there).

17. Do you have any siblings?
A brother who’s 4 years younger than me.

18. What’s your guilty pleasure TV show?
Greek. It’s such a fun show, not too angsty or heavy, but also not so fluffy that I don’t become engaged in the characters and their issues.

19. What are your plans for next weekend?
I’m going to pretend “next weekend” means not this coming weekend but the April 10th one, and I’ll be driving down to visit my girlfriend!!! I’m super excited about seeing her again.

20. Say something to the person who tagged you:
Thanks! This got me posting on LJ something that’s not Spring with Xan pimping.

I'm now rushing off to class in which I get to give a presentation on Prospect Research for Non-Profits (don't hate me because I get to do awesome things! ;)), so I won't bother tagging anyone. But if you would like to be tagged, consider yourself tagged! And please feel free to change all my cordelianne-specific TV questions! :D

I bet the Lost writers thank God every night for giving them Michael Emerson, because he brings so much to that show. I mean, I love a lot of the characters and I love the twisty plots, but I cannot imagine the show without Ben.

I am also sadly addicted to EW and the Popwatch blog.

I know! I'm convinced that I could watch Michael Emerson read the phone book and it would be awesome. Ben really does add an incredible amount to the show. I really hope he'll be around to the end of the show because I also can't imagine the show without him. Michael Emerson was definitely one of the show's best casting choices.

I'm so worried about Penny and Desmond and that Ben will have done something bad to them - yet even my love for Penny and Desmond can't trump how much I enjoy watching Michael Emerson as Ben.

Yay! A fellow EW and Popwatch blog addict! I spend way too much time on the site!

Oh, Penny's a gonner, I'm convinced of that -- when Ben makes a plan, he carries it through. :-(

I thought the BSG finale was a hundred times better than I'd expected -- but then, based on rumors I'd heard I had very low expectations. Maybe I accidentally watched the finale of the original series?

Ack, I fear you are right! My enjoyment of Ben and his conniving behaviour is warring with my love for Penny and Desmond. I hope we're wrong!

heee! Perhaps I should have had very low expectations - that really can make a difference. There were a number of things I found very dissatisfying at the end: Starbuck disappearing without her and Lee getting at least a hug, the Admiral saying goodbye to Lee and never planning to see him again (that felt weird and illogical), the colonization aspect, the cheesy robot montage at the end... and I'd better stop before I rant more! :D

I loved most of the BSG finale, but you happened to hit upon exactly the parts I hated about it!

Hi there! I'm posting here because I'm not sure if I have a current email address for you.

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if there's any way I can get to Writercon. Airfare from Montreal is currently looking like way out of my range, and the bus is only (hah!) about $400 but would take a day and a half each way. So I was wondering if you happen to be driving from Toronto? And if so, if you'd be in a position to take on a passenger in exchange for gas money?

I know it's a long shot (I'm not even sure I'll be comfortable leaving Callum for that long!) but I figured I'd ask.

Hi!! :D If you want to send an email it's best to send an email to cause that'll get through to my actual email address (which I don't want to post on my LJ cause it has my real name in it!).

Ah yes, Writercon. I think I'm in a similar uncertain situation that you are. Camisha will actually be out of the country then, and I will have joined her for part of the time for a vacation to Italy! Which is very exciting, but also very expensive. I also don't own a car myself, however, recently rented one for about the time frame we'd be thinking of and it was about $260 + gas. So if we could find a few more people to split that, it would be worth it - and way cheaper than any other travel option. Or I had thought of seeing if any of the fandom people I know in Toronto, and if they have a car and are driving over.

Of course, I am in a similar place as you because I'm not sure if I'll go (I'm not sure if I can afford it after an exciting vacation plus all my school expenses). But! I am still entertaining the notion that I would like to go if there's a cheapish way to go!

So yes, that was a wonderfully waffling answer! :D
