Sigh, I love the Buffy episode that the quote for my title is from, The Replacement. I'm always very amused when Xander suggests that his double is actually a robot and it seems like the stupidest suggestion ever. However what makes me particularly happy is how a silly moment like this is used later in the season. In Intervention (5:18) when there's a robot Buffy, Xander's "Hey, I know this! They're both Buffy!" seems like the stupidest suggestion, even though he's basing this assertion on past experience. God I love Jane Espenson, the writer of both these episodes which make me laugh and laugh.

I wish there were still new episodes of Buffy and Angel.

Okay, returning to reality from my brief sojourn in my Buffyverse-loving realm.

On Saturday I watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow on DVD (which inspired the quote about robots). I really enjoyed the movie. Visually it's just stunning, it's one of those movies that the CGI works in because it's supposed to be stylized and recalling an earlier era of film, instead of just CGI to show off the new computer inventions of Lucasfilms (opps got side tracked by Star Wars rant). Sky Captain feels like a cross between a film noir, expressionist film and an serialized adventure story - and that's a good thing. I enjoyed the casting as well, because I feel that Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law were appropriately cast for their roles.

In the television world, I've figured out that I'm watching the second season of the Amazing Race. I'm very entertained by Danny and Oswald who are one of the few teams I've seen that can actually enjoy themselves amidst all the stress and competition. I'm annoyed by Will and Tara because I can tell they're the predecessors to Victoria and Jonathan (who caused me to stop watching part of a season because of the spousal abuse). Despite my annoyance, the title of the episode I'm in the middle of watching is from a very funny exchange between Will and Tara:

Will: I'm Not a Miner!
Tara: No, You're an Idiot!

hee hee I'm still very amused by that.

I've now seen two more episodes of Venture Brothers: "Mid-Life Chrysalis" and "Eeney, Meeney, Miney ... Magic!" I didn't love them as much as "Dia de Los Dangerous!" but that could be because the Monarch is only in one of the episodes for a short time. When Hank, Dean and Brock are trapped in the weird invention of Dr. Venture, I laughed and laughed at the Marco Polo exchange. I also liked the storyline of Dr. Girlfriend (Monarch's girlfriend) going undercover to seduce Dr. Venture. I'm still definitely looking forward to watching more episodes as it is a very fun and intelligent show to watch.
