While I'm still unwinding from the crazy-fun of this past weekend's Pride celebrations, it's announced today that the government passes the same-sex marriage bill. Globe and Mail article about the legislation. I'm particularly impressed that Canada's only the 3rd country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage - it's one of those times when I'm really really happy to be Canadian and living in Canada. It's excellent to know that the marriage option now exists for me in the future - even if I decide never to get married (which is likely).

I'm still feeling exhausted from Pride - it's the one weekend when I get way more sun exposure and consume more alcohol than normal. Fortunately I covered myself with sunscreen which meant that I didn't get sunburned - I actually got my version of a tan (more freckles). I also didn't drink too much - I just stayed up really late, and did lots and lots of socializing.

I even ran into an ex-girlfriend (actually my first girlfriend and my first love). Interestingly, a few weeks earlier, my co-worker (who is also an ex-girlfriend) was suggesting to me that no-one gets over their first love. I'd been sort of skeptical about this assertion until I saw my ex on Saturday night. It totally freaked me out and my heart was just pounding. So it got me thinking that my co-worker might be right. However when I got the courage to actually talk to my ex it went really well. I was so happy afterwards because I realized that I'm totally over her. It was awesome closure!

Because of Pride I've only watched one television episode, Entourage, and seen one movie, Batman Begins.

Entourage: Still loving it. This episode felt like such a roller coaster ride as I worried whether the Aquaman deal would actually go through. The Ari scenes are still some of the best stuff about that show. Very excited that Constance Zimmer (Sister Lily from Joan of Arcadia) guest starred in this week's episode.

Batman Begins: I was very surprised by how good it is. This is pretty geeky, but I loved how coherent the story is - it's very tight storytelling (I really hate the sloppy storytelling and continuity that's in a lot of movies, particularly ones with significant CGI). The acting was great in it - particularly Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy. Christian Bale was a very good batman. Katie Holmes had a nice small role (much smaller than her "I'm in love with Tom Cruise" role) and the character was really earnest - in the Joey from Dawson's Creek vein - so it worked.

I would definitely watch the movie again although the next movie I'll be watching is War of the Worlds (despite Tom Cruise and his annoying publicity machine). I can't wait to get home and watch the season finale of Doctor Who!!!!!!
