That was pretty cool! Except the part where I was all terrified and now my knees are all dizzy.
So I'm definitely feeling the mixture of emotions that Willow expresses in the BtVS quote from my subject line (from ep 5:9). And this is because it appears (*fingers crossed*) that there's actually already been a resolution to my computer crisis! (Okay, I mostly used "crisis" for the alliteration but it really was a horrible ordeal which undoubtedly increased by grey hairs.)
This morning I received a very professional and apologetic call from the main tech guy at the Yonge/Dundas Futureshop which I'd taken my computer in to be repaired. He apologized for the ridiculousness of the situation and said he wanted to make this better for me right away. He was really nice and clearly understood the importance of providing good customer service. So....
I now have a new laptop!!!!
He said that for him to pay out the money to repair my computer, that they might as well put it towards getting me a new computer which'll be faster, lighter and with improved technology. So, they gave me a comparable laptop that's much faster, with all the features (or improved) that mine had plus there's a webcam built-in. I just paid for another extended warranty (cause giving me the new computer finished my old one - it is a tricky feature of Futureshop's warranties) and for them to install everything on it (cause I'm always happy to pay to avoid that kind of headache). I feel this is a better deal for me because I've upgraded to a brand new computer from my 2-year-old computer which I would have had to replace very soon anyway. So even though I did have to pay something, it wasn't much and hopefully this delays paying lots of money in a year or so.
I must say that the main tech guy and the store manager at the Yonge/Dundas Futureshop were very awesome, and clearly got that the situation was fucked. Everyone I dealt with there was nice, respectful, professional and friendly. They also had the computer all ready for me 2 hours later. It's too bad that by this point, I was so delighted by that kind of service, cause really that's how all Futureshop employees and representatives should be acting.
Now I just need to actually get it all set up with my features and such, and actually try using it at home. I am so hoping everything will work fine cause I just want this to be over.
Oh! And I have fic to post very soon (more If I Can’t Dance), I just need to do the edit which maybe I'll be able to do on the new computer! And now that I have a laptop again, it'll be way easier to finish up Outside Pride (or so I tell myself!).
