BTVS Fic: Poseurs (Cordelia, G, drabble)

  • May. 18th, 2006 at 3:57 AM
cordelianne: (Cordy "Bring it on Bitch")
For [livejournal.com profile] tinpanalley who requested: Cordelia, takeout
Set during AtS late season one/early season two.

Continuing thanks to [livejournal.com profile] savoytruffle.

Poseurs
by Cordelianne

She eyes the "hot" styles – according to those E!News poseurs – as she bites into a piping hot spring roll. Fanning her mouth, she –

What?! No way!

She stares at the clip of the implant-enhanced girl – who Cordy’d always beaten in auditions – emoting opposite the next Brad Pitt. That should be Cordy’s role, the one that would make her a star.

Slumping down, she pops a piece of ginger chicken into her mouth, eyes fixed on the screen.

She grabs the phone on the first ring. "Angel?" She’s already standing, closing the takeout boxes, turning the TV off. "Be right there."

WOW ... that has so much subtext, it's practically a sub-novel. Lovely look at the person Cordy has really become.

Thanks for the awesome feedback, it still has me all giddy!! wheee for sub-novel!! I really like the balance in Cordelia's character at this point in the series so it was neat to explore. *g*

Cordy's a good example of a one-dimensional character who grew well into three dimensions. Some characters can never make that leap, but by the end of the series she was as well rounded as they come. Um, I mean character-wise, not physically.

Aww, Cordy. It's always so touching to me that she ended up choosing to fight the fight rather than give in to the superficial side of her personality. You brought that all out so well here. And your use of food really cemented the scene in my head, plus made me hungry for the left-over ginger tofu I have in my fridge! *g* Very well done, sweets. You really have a knack for drabbles. *hugs*

Yay! Thanks for your lovely feedback!! I love Cordy when she's committed to fighting the good fight, but still has hints of old school Cordelia. It was fun coming up with the food she'd be eating. And I totally enjoy ginger tofu too!! *hugs*

How do you get *so* much in 100 words?? You do have a gift for drabble. (Sorry I haven't commented on the others yet btw, been busy in RL! :)
This is a lovely, inspired scene; I like the contrast between what Cordelia thinks she wants, and what her actions show she wants. I love the way you convey her disdain for the world of the superficial.
And the title is great. ;)

Wow! Thanks for the awesome feedback! Considering my ability to ramble on, I'm very pleased that I'm able to crystalize things down to 100 words.

I like Cordy during this time period because she really has changed but some of that old school Cordelia stuff is still there. And I just had to explore the issue of superficiality with her! *g*

That was gorgeous! I love how you took this moment of transition in Cordelia's life, looking back on what could have been, but the hope, too, of the future even if that gets all snarled up too.
Great Cordelia voice too. Just a wonderful drabble. :)

Thanks for the lovely feedback!! I like this time in Cordelia's life when she's still interested in less meaningful things although world saving is clearly her priority. I like that balance in her, which I miss when things get all snarled up. Thanks!! *g*

Wow! An incredible look into an older and wiser Cordelia, while still paying homage to the girl she'd once been! I mean, just because you're saving the world from evil doesn't mean you give up the E! channel! Thank you so much for such a great drabble!

Yay! Thanks for your awesome feedback, I'm so glad you enjoyed!! I love that Cordelia - at this time - still has that interest in frivolous things even though her focus is on the mission. It's a fun mix in her character. *g*

i think the others have said it well. drabble is a skill you possess. not that longer isn't good, too, but you really know how to choose a moment and do it in 100 words and that's very cool.

Oh, I like that we still see aspects of her as she was, and clear indication of who she's become. Yay for Cordy!

Thanks!!! I love this time in Cordy's life because there's still aspects of the old Cordelia, even though she's becoming someone else. It was fun to explore that. *g*

This was lovely--the bridging of the gap between what she wanted and what she's become, and how, when it comes right down to it, she doesn't really look back. She really did become a hero--thank you so much for making me feel so proud of her. :)

Thanks so much! I have much Cordy love and I particularly like when she still has those superficial interests but she has a higher purpose which comes first. And I love that she doesn't really look back. I'm delighted that I made you feel proud of her!! *g*
