Sometimes in my dreams, you're all naked. (btvs 4:3)

You know those multi-fandom icon posts that'll have things like Buffy, Angel, Veronica Mars and Doctor Who, and then there'll also be some of Lindsey Lohan or Christina Aguilera? And you're like - or I'm like - Lindsey Lohan? Christina Aguilera?!! WTF?! Well, I blame those posts (which I do enjoy cause I like chancing upon icons I wouldn't otherwise) for my own personal Christina Aguilera?! WTF?! moment yesterday. I had a dream that I was about to - but actually didn't (because I would so not be sharing otherwise!!) - have a threesome with Christina Aguilera and Scarlett Johansson. It was very bizarre because I almost never think about either of them in any way (I do think Scarlett Johansson is very beautiful). I actually don't think about celebrities that much. So, when I was going back through icon posts looking for a "Logan/Weevil OTP" icon (which I now have OMG!!!), I realized that's how those celebrities got in my head (they were in some of the posts). Um yeah, so that's enough of my odd dream!

Speaking of icons, [livejournal.com profile] earth_vexer has another round of beautiful, beautiful icons here. Her icons are so stunning and always make me want to upload every single of one of them (Why do we not get unlimited icon space? Why? /dramatics). I'm using this very sexy one of Spike in "Dirty Girls" because it reminds me of the awesome - and now finished! - [livejournal.com profile] trufflemouse fic:

And Let the Gods Do the Rest - The summary: What happened in Oxnard stayed in Oxnard and so did Xander...until Buffy sent him a souled and crazy Spike to help out with a little case of Apocalypse.
It's Spike/Xander and is one of my favourite S/X fics ever! To quote one of my own comments on the fic: One of the many things I love about this story is how interestingly it weaves into canon, yet charts its own very believable and fascinating - and damn awesome - path. There's a re-working of that "Dirty Girls" scene in my icon (as well as other scenes from the show) which is so well done and gives added meaning to certain lines. And there's awesome S/X banter and sexiness (*flails*). As well it has a lovely flow, great energy and I'm enamoured with the utilization of language.

So, yesterday was filled with television watching. I've now watched the last 2 hours of the Grey's Anatomy finale and the last 4 episodes (including 2 hour finale) of Lost. I was all jittery and wired after that much Lost. Yeah, I know I'm almost a month late and probably no one cares anymore or remembers, so I just have some random thoughts.

Grey's Anatomy Season Two finale

I now realize I shouldn't have waited weeks in between watching the first part of this episode because I wasn't really that invested in it. I didn't think it was as good as other episodes on the show (eg. the bomb two-parter), but it was still fun and got me crying.

The whole Meredith and Derek dog exchange was an annoying unsubtle metaphor for their relationship. I'm kind of neutral about them having sex. I figured it was inevitable and will be the source of some interesting drama next year. I'm not annoyed with the characters or anything.

What was annoying to me was the whole Izzy storyline. She suddenly seemed to become totally out of character and act completely insane. I know it's supposed to be all "love makes you do the wacky" but it felt waaaaaay over the top for me. Although despite that I cried when Denny died.

And wow! Those episodes had so many Veronica Mars alumni. Duncan (aka Teddy Dunn) has previously guest starred. But this two-parter had the VM characters Mallory Dent (Sydney Tamiia Poitier), Vinnie Van Lowe (Ken Marino) and Jackie Cook (Tessa Thompson) all guest starring!!!

The last 4 episodes of Lost season two

I was completely wired after watching these episodes. Damn that intense mood music!

It did feel like I was watching a bunch of idiots make really dumb decisions. Sheesh. This part of the Television Without Pity recap nicely points out the lack of logic in Jack's plan (teehee I first typed "plan" as "plane" which isn't an insane typo considering the show). Thank god for Sayid, he seemed to be the only sane one who was actually thinking, most of the time. And oddly Desmond - once he stopped being all drunk - also did some thinking.

I'm still annoyed that I was spoiled (not on LJ) about Ana-Lucia and Libby being killed. Fortunately I didn't know that it was Michael so that scene still was quite surprising.

I've been thinking about Michael doing all these crazy things - killing people - to save his son. It reminded me of something my mom said once about how she'd do whatever it takes to keep my brother and I safe. Now my mom is the most practical, reasonable and sensible person I know and I can totally picture her going to extremes for my brother and I in a similar situation. Of course she'd do it without killing anyone. I think that the producers tapped into that parental love that has no bounds, and then took it that next step to out-of-control (and over the top).

One of the reason I prefer Veronica Mars over Lost is that VM gives answers but doesn't spell things in out in that anvilicious way that Lost does. So Lost often has these scenes that just so obviously hitting us over the head, but in the finale they took a couple of those moments and reminded us of them at the key scene, eg. from the Television Without Pity recap: We see a couple of quick cuts to Penelope and her dramatic tear-stained cheek, as we hear her voice repeat the most salient part of her contribution to Desmond's defining object: "All we really need to survive is one person who truly loves us. And you have her. I will wait for you. Always. I love you." Desmond says, "I love you, Penny," and he turns the key.
It's moments like that when I roll my eyes.

Still at least the finale gave us some answers, ie. something about geologically unique electromagnetism and that one of the others wears a fake beard? Oh and there's lots of connections between people, including between a wig wearing Libby and Desmond.

I was amused by Demond's unread Dicken's novel because it reminds me of all the books from that period I have on my bookshelves which are unread or only partially finished. *glances up at Middlemarch with the bookmark sticking out at the half-way point*

So the big question is: Should I watch Lost next year? I have not yet decided.

I'm thinking of doing a poll, once I actually figure out how to do a poll, about which tv shows I should watch or not watch next year. I need to cut down on the ridiculous amount of shows that I watch and I have such a hard time making those decisions so have decided to let other people do it for me!! And I want to do a poll.

I hope everyone's Saturday is going well!! *g*
