I'm going to give you all a nice, fun, normal evening ....

... if I have to kill every single person on the face of the earth to do it." "Yay?" (btvs 3:20)

It's February, which let's face it isn't often the best month so I decided it would be fun to make a list of the things that are making me happy right now! fyi: Things are going okay for me, it's just a busy, stressful time at work. Now, onto the good things:

My happy list ... in no particular order

1. My girlfriend is coming to visit in 12 days!!!!

2. Thanks to the kind anonymous person who gifted me with some yummy virtual candy hearts!! They totally brightened my day to receive them!

3. Thanks to the lovely person who nominated Murder at the Neptune Express at the Fang Fetish Awards in the "Unique Universes - Best crossover with the NON BTVS/ATs world" category. This pleases me a lot because I really love that fic! *g*

So this next part of the list is all the TV shows that are making me happy:

4. Grey's Anatomy - I continue to enjoy the show so much. And it's always good for a cathartic cry.

5. Friday Night Lights - So I've now seen the first 10 episodes and totally love this show!! It's beautifully shot, well-written and has compelling characters and storylines. I'm so excited to see more episodes because I've been hearing just how fabulous it's been recently. I know this may seem like a weird comparison but it fills the hole that Everwood left.

6. 30 Rock - This is the show that snuck up on me and before I knew it, I was hooked. Alec Baldwin in particular is so funny and steals every scene. And this show fills the hole that Arrested Development left.

7. Ugly Betty - This is the show I didn't know I was missing in my life. My friend and I have been watching a couple of episodes together each week and are totally addicted. I'm really pleased with how they're dealing with the latest plot twist and revelations - it's really making me happy. I adore all the characters especially Betty and her friendship with Daniel, and Justin, he's so fabulous!

8. The Office - This show continues to be brilliant! I love how they can be poignant and then shift on a moment to funny and cringey. The Joss directed episode rocked - loved the vampire references and the art show scene at the end.

9. Heroes - I always look forward to the new episodes and always enjoy the show. And omg, how creepy is Sylar?!

And now onto music that's making me happy.

10. Justin Timberlake's Futuresex/Lovesounds. I've been surprised by how much I enjoy this - it's so uplifting.

11. Lily Allen's Alright Still. When we had this on at work last night, I was actually dancing. Definitely an amazing album that always cheers me up, and wow is she talented!

Oh, I must list some food and drinks!

12. The Baklava from the new and awesome Falafel place near my work.

13. That I can still get Peppermint Hot Chocolates from Starbucks!

Hmmm, I can't end on #13 so I must end with:

14. Curling! I went curling with my work on Friday and it was so much fun! I actually was kinda good AND my team won!

So, tell me what's making you happy right now!! *g*

What's making me happy right now? Um ... can I get back to you in March? :-)

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you have the winter blahs - it's definitely going around. Hopefully hearing that March is only 10 days away will be something happy-inducing! *hugs*

[identity profile] ozma914.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
I *always* have the winter blah's. Including during half of autumn, and during the snowstorms of early spring. That's about six months out of the year, which leads, again, to the obvious question of what the heck I'm doing in Indiana ...

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, I recall you last year talking about how you get the winter blahs. It's not a fun thing at all. And especially difficult in a more northern climate. We all need to move somewhere like Hawaii! *g*

Hawaii ... aaaahhhhhh.....

[identity profile] ozma914.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's no coincidence that Hawaii and Heaven begin with the same first letter ...

[identity profile] drakontaskyria.livejournal.com 2007-02-18 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I didn't mean for the candy hearts to be anonymous. I sent them to a few friends and I must have clicked/not clicked the right thing (I did it hurriedly) and none of them were id-ed as coming from me. Oh well... Glad you liked them though. *g*

What is making me happy right now?

Life-wise:

1. Getting my life together.

2. That Car and I are still getting along very well.

3. That we're getting her condo in order.

4. That I actually flirted with the young clerk at The Container Store.

5. That in some ways my health has improved.

6. I've lost some weight.

TV-wise:

7. Supernatural - yes, both boys are technically young enough to be my sons, but they are hot, funny and a bunch of other adjectives. I love this show.

8. 24 - cuz Jack is back! *g*

9. Medium - I love Alison and the relationship with her husband.

10. Heroes - this show is adorable in so many ways.

11. Ugly Betty - wasn't gonna watch this. Now I can't not watch it.

12. House - I continue my adoration of Hugh Laurie.

13. Bones - I only watched it in the beginning to see if David Boreanaz could do anything other than Angel. Now, I love Bones and Booth.

Music-wise:

14. Rodrigo y Gabriela rule! It's hard to dance in a car while driving and yet I manage to do it whenever they come on.

Future-wise:

15. As soon as I'm done plotting and working up my courage, I'll start the Spuffy story I've been thinking about. I think it'll be good to get back to writing.

There you go. Congrats on the noms - you deserve them. And it'll be great for you to get to spend some time with your gal. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the candy hearts!!!! They make me so happy!!! hee - I know what you mean about the accidental anonymous thing, it's like LJ wants us to gift people anonymously!

Oh! I'm so excited by your list - yay for #1!!!! It's so wonderful that you have lots of things to be happy about. I'm very happy that you and Car are getting along well - and it sounds like the condo's coming along really well! Go you on the flirting!! I'm so bad at flirting (like have no skills whatsoever) so I'm very impressed. And it's great that you're healthier!!

I'm with you about most of those TV shows! And I must use my 24 icon in honour of it!! You sum up my feelings about Ugly Betty so well - it's such an addictive and awesome show! House and Bones should have been on my list because they rock too!

I haven't heard about Rodrigo y Gabriela but I'll have to check him out because that sounds like exactly the music I'm in the mood for!

And OMG about #15!!! That's very exciting!! Go you!!!! And thanks for your kind words!! *hugs*

[identity profile] drakontaskyria.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
One of the reasons I was reluctant to accept help from Car is her last in a series of crazy roomies - it totally ruined a 16 year friendship. I've know her for 20 years and didn't want to lose that. But it seems to be working so far. And I'm not great with the flirting either, but I try it every once in a while just so those parts don't completely rust up. *g*

I'd have listed some more shows - like 30 Rock - but I'd take up too much space. Hee!

Rodrigo y Gabriela are two Mexican guitarists who now live in Ireland. It's wonderful instrumental stuff they do. You can get a taste at RodGab.com or their MySpace site. I tried to get Car the cd for Xmas, but they'd appeared on Letterman the previous week and they were sold out. I couldn't get her the thing until mid-January!

Thanks for your encouragement about the writing. Just promise me you'll be honest when you read it. *g*

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely know what you mean - I had a roommate relationship that almost ruined a friendship. So, it's very wonderful that things are going well!!

heeee - I don't mind people taking up space talking about TV in my LJ - I love TV talk!! *g*

Thanks for the info about where I can check them out! I'm bad about discovering new music so it's always great to get recommendations.

I'm excited about your Spuffy story! And I promise to be honest. *g*

yay for visits! *g* those are the best of all. I'm with you on the 30 rock. that's good times. hm, what else is making me happy right now? well... not to rub it in, but it's warm and sunny here. 75 degrees farenheit, which i have no idea how to translate into celsius, lol.

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I am so excited about the visit!! It's soooo soon!!! It really is such a wonderful thing to look forward to!

Oh yay! I'm happy to hear you're enjoying 30 Rock too! It has won me over. I'm now trying to remember which episode made me love it - I think it was the one "The Head and the Hair" where Jack worked for Kenneth (omg - how awesome is Kenneth?!!). Anyway, much love for 30 Rock! I totally need a 30 Rock icon!

I am soooooo jealous of your weather! I love that temperature, er seriously, it's my ideal temperature. (I had to look it up in Celsius). It's actually about -6 Fahrenheit here right now so I'm especially jealous. I don't deal with cold well - which is funny considering I grew up in a city with much harsher and colder winters than Toronto. But I am glad that you have nice weather because I wouldn't wish the cold on you! :D
ext_12019: cat thinks about god (Default)

[identity profile] madame-meretrix.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
omg! Kenneth is hilarious. I think the ep that swayed me was the one where Jack sets Liz up on a blind date, and it ends up being a woman, and later he says something like, "Those shoes are definitely bisexual." hee! Yeah, it's definitely one of the snappier shows out there. But I still miss Arrested Development. Sigh. Shows like that don't come around often enough. You totally need a 30 rock icon! *g*

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes!!! I adore that episode! So well done, and very very funny! Yes, the shoe line is especially funny! It'll never replace Arrested Development for me - I fell in love with AD from the first line - but 30 Rock is definitely in the tradition of AD.

I was going to get a 30 Rock icon and then reply with it, but then realized if I did that I'd never reply since it'll take a while to find icons I like, and then I'll get distracted and forget I was going to reply to your comment! *randomly uses Scrubs icon instead*

[identity profile] madame-meretrix.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
hee! i see your scrubs icon and raise you a groucho. that's as non-sequitous as i get. *g* scrubs is awesome! i didn't really catch onto it until they started running it in syndication, but now i realize just how amazing it is.

yeah, good tv... it's so hard to find!

Yay for visits! That's just the best.

I've heard really good things about FNL so if it returns for another season I will start tuning in. I had little interest in seeing it initially because I grew up in the South and just hated the football mindset there. It was just such a rednecky thing. The last thing I wanted to do was see it revisited.

The Office and Heroes continue to be enjoyable. And "30 Rock" grabbed me after one episode. I agree, Baldwin's Golden Globe is well deserved, and not a single episode has gone by yet where I didn't laugh really hard at least once. I really like Tina Fey's character, she's my type of girl :>

And wow, people curl for fun! (*g* I suspect it's much like broomball here). It reminds me of a post [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo made today with the little differences in British life for Americans. Apparently all the Brits were shocked Americans don't use electic kettles and towel warmers.

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes! I am so excited about the visit!!!! :D

All I've heard is good things about FNL - so many people on my flist love it - and it's definitely lived up to my expectations. I can definitely understand why you didn't want to see it and your feelings about that mindset - especially since you grew up in the South. That mindset and culture is so foreign to me, that as a Canadian growing up watching these kinds of shows I'd think it was made up. It's only recently I'm realizing that these things aren't that far off from reality. FNL may not end up being something that you enjoy because it really feels like a documentary of this kind of culture. I do think they do a really good job of making the characters very well-rounded and engaging. Also they don't valorize the culture; I'd say it does a good job of showing the positives and negatives. I've heard that the last few episodes have done an amazing job of dealing with race and racism. hee - anyway, you may be able to tell I'm smitten with it, despite not being a big football person! *g*

I really like Tina Fey's character, she's my type of girl :>
Oh yes! I love her character too! I especially loved that episode when she got set up with another woman. That was so well done - and funny! I still giggle about the bicurious shoes!

I've only curled a few times in my life, but the most recent times I've curled I've had a blast. It's not a hugely popular sport - hockey is *the* sport for most Canadians - but it certainly has a good amount of people who enjoy it. It's also a sport that allows for lots of drinking - and I felt very Canadian cause I had a beer while I curled (you can't take it out on the ice but you can go back into the lounge area). That sounds like an interesting post - I shall have to wander over and check it out! Having an American girlfriend we discover lots of little cultural differences. Like me using "for" in places Americans don't. ie. "I'm going into work for 5pm."

Oh my goodness, I just rambled on and on in my reply to you!!! *g*
yourlibrarian: Angel and Lindsey (Default)

[personal profile] yourlibrarian 2007-02-19 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! That just gives me more to reply to :>

FNL may not end up being something that you enjoy because it really feels like a documentary of this kind of culture.

Hmm, yeah, that may be more interesting if it's an alien culture.

I especially loved that episode when she got set up with another woman.

That must have been before we tuned in. I think the episode where she had to go to the party with Baldwin and complained asking if she had to wear heels did it for me.

Like me using "for" in places Americans don't. ie. "I'm going into work for 5pm."

Ah yes. Well there are regionalisms here that have some unusual word choices such as "might could" in the South and "needs fixed" in the Midwest.

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
I think the episode where she had to go to the party with Baldwin and complained asking if she had to wear heels did it for me.
heeee! That was awesome!! Liz is such a fabulous character - she feels so real. I really must find some good 30 Rock icons!

Well there are regionalisms here that have some unusual word choices such as "might could" in the South and "needs fixed" in the Midwest.
Oh cool! I get a kick out of learning different regionalisms. *g*

February is kind of a crappy month, but at least it's short. *g* It would be nice to have a stat holiday in February, that would probably help a bit - do you have one in Ontario?

Congratulations on the nomination for your fic! And ooh! You went curling again! You're Canadian, aren't you? :P

Things I'm happy about: 1) our cold snap has finally ended - which meant I finally got to wear my new dress last week! Very excited about that. *g* 2) I'm having lots of fun with my newfound Scottish obsession. 3) I'm making a point of watching TV shows that I like - not because I have to (gosh, who has to watch TV?), but because it's nice to be entertained by a variety of things. 4) I'm taking some vacation time starting at the end of this week! YAY! :D

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, one of the few good things I can think to say about February is that it's short! We don't have a stat holiday in February but I wish we did!! I heard that some place was instituting one, but I don't recall where. I miss when I used to have Reading Week in February.

Thanks!! And heee - it was a very Canadian day! I even had a beer (I'm not anti-beer or anything but I don't drink beer that often). *g*

Yay to getting to wear a new dress!!! I want our cold snap to end cause I have some skirts I want to wear! Ooooh, yay for enjoying your Scottish obsession! #3 is such a good thing to do. I actually have started doing that too. For example, I haven't watched this week's VM yet, and I'm feeling less annoyed as a result. I've also been leaving another show and not watching it till weeks after it airs because I enjoy it more when I don't read other people's comments. And YAY to vacation!!!!! :D

[identity profile] earth-vexer.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Reading Week, how I miss you! I think our premier's been talking about creating a Feb. holiday, not this year but next. Of course, the business owners aren't too happy about it, but whatever. If Alberta can do it (and Saskatchewan too, I think), why can't we? :D

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, it was the Manitoba premiere who was talking about it. I really hope you get it next year!!! I wish that Ontario would get a February stat holiday too!

Congratulations! =)

I have to say, watching curling in the olympics and trying to figure out what the hell was going on was so much fun! My husband and I would just make up imaginary rules, and it seemed like it was ALWAYS on! Of course, then he actually started understanding the rules, and that was less fun, but it was good while it lasted. =)

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :D

Heeeee - that sounds like such fun! I love doing that kind of thing - during the Superbowl we'd have the commercials on mute and imagine what they were saying/what was happening. Curling is a good one to imagine the rules for because they can seem kind of wacky. hee - I bet it was less fun when your husband understood the rules - I often find the made-up stuff is more entertaining!

Yay for happy things and happy making up coming events, like your upcoming visit with your gf (for some reason, I'm trying to remember if it's okay to say her username here -- I think so, but... *errs on side of caution as usual*).

Congratulations on your nomination! That's such excellent news.

I'm really liking the latest Justin Timberlake album too (even though I giggle every time I hear the title song, because of the VH1 commentator who said when she heard the album, she called her friends and said: "OMG, YOU GUYS! SEXY IS BACK!!!!!"

Curling! I will forever associate you with curling because of the time you posted pics of yourself with your coworkers playing...doing?...curling (maybe you just curl curling? or curling is itself the verb? *confused*). So in my mind, you play all the time, and so does everyone in Canada, and you could win in tournaments. :D

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I am VERY excited about the upcoming visit! *g* Thanks for asking if it's alright to use the gf's username here - it definitely is. I often just say Camisha because I'm frequently too lazy to do the username formatting thing (and I figure it's good for me not to have [livejournal.com profile] savoytruffle listed on every one of my entries! *g*

Thanks!! :)

heee - That's such a funny story!! The whole concept that JT is bringing sexy back amuses me to no end - but still I love the album. One of my co-workers just gave me a copy of his previous album which I'm excited to hear. I think I'm becoming a JT fan!

I love that you associate me with curling!! *g* I took a bunch of pictures this year but since I don't have a digital camera it'll take a while for me to have some to upload. hmmm, I think it's just "curling" with no word in front of it, except for maybe "let's go curling". I feel confident that curling itself is a verb - or at least how we say it!! Ooooh, I'm pleased that you believe I could win tournaments! I actually curled really well this last time so am having visions of becoming a curling superstar!!!! hee - but of course I would have to curl more than once a year! *g*

I totally think you could attain your visions of being the curling superstar of the world! I could definitely help organize your fan club.

Oh, good, I'm glad that's cool. I mean, I thought it was, I just -- it's always one of those things, keeping track of everyone's level of personal information/revelation, and that's not making so much sense, but...yes. :D

Anyway. YAY for visit, and maybe you should take Camisha curling with you (since she introduced you to yoga)!

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
it's always one of those things, keeping track of everyone's level of personal information/revelation, and that's not making so much sense, but...yes. :D
Oh yes! That does make sense! I always like to err on the side of caution in those instances because it is so hard to keep track of everyone's comfort level about personal stuff. Also, in my instance I suspect it was complicated because initially with the gf I didn't say anything publicly because it was so new so I wanted to see how things would go. But now I'm happy to have people know. *beams* Camisha hasn't explicitly said who I am on her LJ but isn't concerned about keeping it secret or anything.

Yay!! I shall have to keep working toward becoming a curling superstar with a fabulous fan club! I should take Camisha curling - it would be such fun! *g*

*hugs*
