Character Meme

I got this from [livejournal.com profile] karabair, [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue, [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88 and [livejournal.com profile] molly_may, and have to do it because I cannot resist something that lets me talk about my love for the characters on my shows:

Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will tell you my top 3 moments or scenes of them.

I'll do any of my fandoms or shows that I watch: BtVS, AtS, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Scrubs, 24, etc etc (ie. any show you know I watch).

Yeah. But she's our witch.(cocks his gun) So cut her the hell down.

yes! yes yes yes!! And I love his interaction with Simon too.

I do get the giggles at the look of glee on his face when he thinks Inarra kissed Saffron, and that he guessed right.

Okay, so, um... since you cheated on your answers (out of sheer love for the characters, I recognize), can I cheat and ask another one?? :)
I really wanna hear what your favourite Wash moments are!

The lights and flowers around her door are so perfect!

It is kind of an ugly dress, yet for some reason I love it and want one of my own! Just in case you're now imagining that I have hideous taste in clothes, I normally wear jeans or jean skirts, lots of black and hoodies. :)

Nathan Fillion does dorky and fun really well, and him thinking about Inara and Saffron kissing is such a great moment like that!

hee! I'm glad you enjoyed! I could remember the scenes that I wanted, but I did pull the dialogue from online transcripts. The Ruskie Business one was all from memory though! I have a bad memory about lots of stuff - normally relevant important details - but am very good at details about my favourite tv characters. I probably should worry about that ... :)

since you cheated on your answers (out of sheer love for the characters, I recognize)
So, you saw the cheating, did you. teehee! I crack myself up. Um, anyway here's my Wash answers (I haven't been including the movie in my answers just to keep things under control, and I'm definitely not using it for Wash because I might cry. Again.):

1. In Serenity Part One, the first introduction of Wash, which is so damn funny:

WASH: Everything looks good from here... (beat) Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive.

[It is at this point that we realize he's playing with little plastic dinosaurs. He holds a stegosaurus and a T-rex (or whatever the hell they call 'em these days).

The dinosaurs look out over his dash/console, toward the window.]

WASH (cont'd)
(as steg) We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... This Land.
(as T-rex) I think we should call it... your grave!
(steg) Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
(T-rex) Ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die!

2. I adore Wash in War Stories because it explores his insecurities about Mal and Zoe's sexual tension (or lack thereof). I love his resolve about rescuing Mal:

JAYNE You really think you can mount a two-man frontal assault on Niska's
skyplex and live?

WASH Technically it's a one-man/one-woman assault. A unisex.
(to Zoe)Grenades?

And:

WASH
There's a certain motto Jayne. A creed among folk like us, you may have heard it: Leave no man behind.

3. This one is also from the pilot, Serenity Part Two, when they're arguing about what to do with Simon & River. Wash demonstrates his heart and calmness in these kinds of situations:

WASH Can we maybe vote on the whole murdering people issue?

It's such a small moment, but it really solidifies my love for him. I just realized I also should have included his overwhelming concern for Zoe in Out of Gas, as well as him popping up from the console with that ridiculous moustache in the flashback!

Thank you!!
The words "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" are heard quite frequently around our house. Not that there's a lot of betrayal going on, just that it never fails to crack us up. Silly grins, the lot.

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's such an awesome phrase! And I'm pleased that there's not a lot of actual betrayal in your house, cause that would suck. hee!

I'd be interested in your answers to the meme, I can throw some characters at you (here or on your lj), if you want. *g*

Oh, and the only Firefly icon I have is of Jayne (who I, of course, adore). I'd probably have more Firefly icons if I didn't insist on having a ridiculous amount of Xander ones (and S/X and Buffy ones).

Squee! Those are some of my favorite moments too! It really is so hard to choose though, isn't it? So many great character moments with him, even little stupid ones like where he sprays Cordelia down with the hose. Just so difficult to choose! I was watching "Into the Woods" last week, and that scene between him and Anya struck me so hard knowing what is to come. I hope someone tells me something like that someday. I really admire you for doing this, because I know there is absolutely no way I could narrow my choices down. You are a superstar! *g*

[identity profile] electricalgwen.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, feel free to throw. I haven't picked up the meme generally because a) not many people (like, maybe 3) read my LJ, b) despite loving these shows so much, I am relatively out of touch with them (haven't seen much of BtVS s1-3, and rewatched almost nothing at all in the last couple of years - though in new news, I have just acquired a good-condition-used-box-set of BtVS season one!!), and c) being the kicker, I'm really indecisive. :) So it's hard for me to pick best moments!

But yeah. Throw away. BtVS, AtS, and Firefly are fair game. Or anything from Star Trek except Enterprise. Here or in my space, doesn't matter. I'm out of town for 24 hours or so, so there will be a delay in response.

I have a couple of Firefly icons I like better but I've forgotten who made them so need to poke around and find out before using, so as to credit properly!

I'm pleased you love those moments too! And him spraying Cordelia with the hose is so awesome! It's a really hard meme for me to do because I'm bad at picking just 3 things (and I basically cheated on all my answers). Just seeing your icons reminds of how much I love him in Buffy Vs. Dracula, and then there's The Replacement ....

That scene in Into the Woods is very poignant. I'm such a fan of the Xander/Anya pairing so their relationship dissolving always makes me sad. Fortunately I get so into the moment while watching that scene that I forget what's to come (I'm sure it's not 'cause I'm imagining he's saying that to me!).

I hope someone tells me something like that someday. I think someone totally will! I also want someone to tell me that kind of thing. I believe that we'll both hear that someday. Clearly I'm a glass half-full kind of gal!
