Part way through watching Star Wars today I got distracting thinking about Serenity. Now Serenity is going to be an excellent movie - one that I don't have to sink my expectations to below zero to enjoy! The brief snippets of dialogue in the trailer are better than any of the dialogue in Revenge of the Sith.

However, Episode III is not without stuff that I like:

- Action scenes with minimal dialogue (particularly the multiple lightsaber battles)
- Anakin finally becoming Darth Vadar and doing evil things, particularly his killing rampage of the Jedis. Today my co-worker and I were discussing how the killing of the Jedi sequences should have been longer.
- The shots that were more for effect, eg. Vadar turning towards the camera with his eyes all red after killing the Trade Federation leaders, and the shot of him striding up to the Jedi temple with the army in tow.
- The fully suited Darth Vadar rising up.
- The Wookies - I wanted to see more of them, instead I feel like the Wookies have more screen time in Burger King ads than the actual movie.

I just realized that my list is mostly violent things ... I like hugs and puppies too it's just the mushy stuff in Revenge of the Sith really sucked.

On Wednesday night I watched Beauty and the Geek (the new WB reality show), and was actually entertained and kind of sucked in. I'll have to see if I like it the following week - the Amazing Race is really the only reality show that I've sustained interest beyond one episode.

Beauty and the Geek is kind of sweet, even though it does play into stereotypes. Basically really hot girls who aren't too smart are paired with really smart guys who are pretty geeky. There's challenges each week and the guys have to coach the girls on academic/smart things and the girls coach the guys on social skills.

What I noticed was that the girls really reacted to the sweetness of most of the guys. Sure they made comments about how they'd never normally date geeky guys like the ones on the show, but they seemed to genuinely like how nice most of the guys are.

I was totally all about Joe who's so adorably cute. He has an English degree, has made several short films, and he volunteers with kids. I actually can believe that he's a real person who exists in the same world that I do, rather than those guys who are on the bachelor. Unfortunately the girls on the show are like the girls on the Bachelor and the Bachelorette but the different context makes them seem less scary and alien (I mean alien in a bad way, not the cool weird way).

Since my ramblings about the unintentional lesbian subtext on Reba, I'll occasionally notice a quote that taken out of context totally supports my argument:

Barbara Jean to Reba (describing Reba's presence in her life): "You're like Patrick Swayze in Ghost."
