I've been relatively successful so far, and have already watched and fallen in love - again! - with FNL. Seriously, if you haven't seen this show, please check it out - it's the best drama on TV. If you're turned off by the football aspect, don't be, if you're not into football, you'll love it because it's about the people - and the acting, writing and directing are all fantastic! The first season is on sale and is very reasonably priced, and of course you can rent it or netflixx it. /promoting the awesome FNL
I'm currently in the midst of The Office mania because I had already been watching S2 (a recent pre-birthday purchase) so I've been mainlining the last couple of seasons. Another fantastic show! Both these shows got me thinking about the previous television season, so I bring you....
( My Eleven Favourite Moments from the 2006-2007 Television Season (no spoilers) )
Well, those are some of my favourite moments from the last TV season. Did I miss any of your favourites? *g*

1. Holiday Feedback-a-thon: Okay, so I commented on about three stories and then everything got crazy before Christmas – which I should have known would happen. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am still excited about reading the stories and will be working my way slowly through them asap! I have not forgotten, I’m just really really slow.
2. My fic masterlist/my fic round up for 2006: I have plans to do this, but have not actually done any work on it. Unless thinking about it counts as working on it. *g* So look for this in the hopefully near future. Er, and I'll be trying to get back into fic writing too.
3. My visit with the girlfriend: It was absolutely wonderful!! (Trust me when I say that’s an understatement.) I had a fabulous time and – of course – I didn’t want to leave. I thought I’d share a few highlights which will hopefully interest you, including meeting the absolutely awesome, fun and adorable
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
4. My laptop: The power cord has broken and there’s wires exposed. FutureShop (where I purchased my computer and have a warranty through) have ordered me a new one but have said it’ll take three weeks. My reaction: THREE WEEKS!! WTF?! (I restrained myself from saying exactly that to the rude and condescending tech guy). I’m going to see if I can get that sped up. But in the meantime I’ve taped up the cord with electrical tape and am hoping it’ll hold up till the replacement comes. *eyes it warily* Okay, I’m actually at work right now and nowhere near it, but I still eye it warily.
So, this has impeded me from being very active on LJ (I didn’t even have the dangerous cord that shoots out sparks for a couple of days, and thus was trying to conserve my battery), but I have been reading people’s entries and am caught up. I’m hoping to start commenting more soon, and catch up on fic reading and commenting (I’m always behind on fic reading! *g*)
*hugs you all*

So yeah, I’ve been sick. Not feel-like-I’m-dying sick, just annoying-head-cold-that-sticks-around sick. And it’s made me cranky and whiny and low on energy. Fortunately I didn’t have to travel anywhere for Christmas because my family (mom, dad, brother and brother’s girlfriend) converged at my apartment for Christmas. I don’t have the biggest apartment ever but we all fit comfortably (fyi: they slept at a hotel – it wasn’t that cozy). And my mom – who’s very awesome – prepared the meal so basically I just had to show up in my own apartment and try not to sneeze on anyone. I feel very spoiled by the lovely Christmas and all the fabulous gifts I received (of fannish interest: I got a Puppet Angel, the Vamp!Xander action figure and the Scruffy Wesley action figure).
I’m finally feeling mostly better today (*fingers crossed*) – which is good because on Sunday I’m heading out to visit the fabulous girlfriend! I’m so excited about visiting with Camisha – we’ll have just over a week together. Of course, I would be more excited if I wasn’t flying through Denver. I’ve spoken to my airline and apparently it’s possible that things should be cleared up by then and it should be alright when I fly through there. But I’ll have to keep calling and checking that the flight’s still confirmed, because if not, they will re-route me … but that could mean I won’t arrive for New Year’s Eve which had been my original plan.
So in an effort to not stress out, I thought I’d tell you my top 10 list of TV shows for 2006 (ie. the shows I enjoyed the most this past year). Oh! I am planning to do my fic wrap-up but I probably won’t have that ready to post till the new year.
( My Top 10 TV Shows of 2006 – spoiler free! )
So that’s it for me for now. I hope you all have been having a wonderful holiday season and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

It’s Not: Chapter Four and Chapter Five. The entire story’s just over 7,800 words and all the chapters are here. It also lives in tags here.
So finishing my story seemed to have wiped me out this weekend because I didn’t accomplish the fic reading and commenting that I’d planned to do (and will be doing asap). I did, however, accomplish lots of TV watching!! And I even saw a movie (Casino Royale)!
( Random, and basically unspoilery TV stuff, includes The Simpsons, BSG and House )
( My rant about VM this season, definitely spoilery for season 3 and possibly slightly bitter )
Well, I think that’s enough ranting about VM for today! I hope that everyone who celebrated had a fabulous Thanksgiving! *hugs*

So, if you want to see who the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences nominated click here. ETA: There are NO spoilers behind the cut. And if you want to know why I nominated something or why I didn't, please ask - I didn't have the energy for lengthy explanations (thus, why no spoilers). Now, onto the real nominations: ( The Second Annual Nominations for the Cordelianne Emmys )
I'm sure you're wondering how the winners will be determined. I will be making that decision and announcing it on (or close to) Emmy night. I will likely do a poll to determine the people's choice around that date, but I will ultimately have to pick one from my favourites in each category (which will be a challenge!!).
I'd wanted to do more categories (ie. writing and directing) but am exhausted from all my preparations for visiting

The Emmy nomination ballots are being prepared, and since the shows that I love rarely get nominated, I thought it would be fun to give them some love. Because I'm feeling unoriginal, I'm blatantly stealing the categories from TV Gal's Nominations for the 2006 Amy Awards (I love her awards because the categories, nominations and winners are all decided by the readers of her column). WARNING: Spoilers for Veronica Mars season 2 for numbers 1 & 5 and for Everwood and Smallville behind the cut ( Here's my take on the TV Gal awards categories: )
I'm using my Hannah/Bright Everwood icon because I love those characters and miss the show lots and lots.
So, as mentioned above, this weekend is Pride here in Toronto (actually all week is Pride week) which means I may not be around too much. Or it means I'll be around lots because I'll be overwhelmed by the crowds and commercialism. I'm planning a low-key Pride but these things always grow. So HAPPY PRIDE!!!!

1. Thanks to everyone who voted in my 'Decide cordelianne’s TV Watching Schedule for Her' POLL - you have helped me!! ( Brief run-down of which shows I'm cutting from my schedule - all chosen by YOU )
2. Veronica Mars is loved by all! Or at least those of you who voted in my poll. You all approve of me watching it! I'm pretending that Gilmore Girls got similar love instead of a surprising amount of horrified votes.
3. AWESOME Veronica Mars news!!! On
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
4. According to a reliable source (okay, a co-worker but he's normally right about this stuff), Battlestar Galactica Season 3 will be airing in Canada (on the Space channel) only a day after it airs in the U.S. (Saturday night)!!! This is awesome news and means I won't need to use the internet to see the episodes. Also, now my friends and I will all be at the same point and I won't be trying to remember back to something I saw months ago when we talk about the show!
5. When I scanning through "the Initiative" to check details for my Giles/Xander drabble (ie. Is Xander wearing long sleeves? Do they have military gear?) I declared to my friend OMG I love this show even on fast-forward! I then stopped to watch Riley punch Parker and giggle gleefully. It's just so wonderful to still be so filled with love for BtVS after so many years.
6. I read this lovely Anne of Green Gables Anne & Gilbert ficlet by

It's a good thing that the most responses to my poll's question "Am I too obsessed with television?" were "Obsessed? Sure. The tricky part for me was narrowing down my favourite televisions shows to a list of just six. To make it easier I decided not to include shows that ran for only one season (eg. Firefly, My So-Called Life, Freaks & Geeks) or are in their first seasons (eg. My Name is Earl, How I Met Your Mother, the new Doctor Who). I also cheated and included BtVS and AtS as one selection even though the shows are very different and deserve to be listed on their own. I also want to give a special shout-out to Joan of Arcadia which I didn’t include because it was cancelled after 2 seasons.
List your top six favourite shows:
1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel (BtVS/AtS)
2. Everwood
3. Gilmore Girls (GG)
4. Veronica Mars (VM)
5. Battlestar Galactica (BSG)
6. Arrested Development (AD)
( The answers are here )
Other random stuff:
1. My cab driver hit on me last night. He actually gave me his phone number which I was so startled by that I just accepted. (I won’t call him though.) It was an okay experience because he wasn’t creepy about it or anything.
2.
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
3. I got to play more of the BtVS video game on Friday night. So much fun. I was particularly good at being Xander which made me very happy! I also kept giggling at the cheesy lines Xander would say: “Stake. A vampire’s last meal,” and, after staking a vampire “It’s so much better if I pretend they’re all Spike” (Of course I did not imagine any slashy connotations to that statement!)
4. I’ve discovered that I get the most fic writing done on the subway. I’m thinking I need to find a few hours and just ride the subway so I can finish the fics I’m working on for

Here's why I'm so happy:
1. Seeing Transamerica (an excellent movie) on Friday with one of my best friends. I really loved how it ended and the performances are marvelous. After the movie my friend and I had yummy Mexican food and Margaritas. THEN we went back to his place and played the Buffy video game!! I had way too much fun pretending that I actually WAS the slayer.
2. Celebrating the birthday of one of my oldest friends on Saturday night, who's still my friend despite being roommates with me TWICE over the years! She's not a huge Buffy fan and she endured all of my Buffy parties. Now that's a true friend.
Going to another friend's birthday party and managing to talk Jossverse stuff with multiple people. I didn't even initiate the discussions! I did get to wow people by informing them about BtVS's 9th anniversary. One of the girls I was talking to (who's a new appreciator of the show) said she didn't like "Once More, With Feeling". I was so shocked that I didn't really know how to respond to her. I'm still baffled.
3. I walked to work on Sunday! It was so warm and lovely it felt like Spring!!
4. Watching the BSG season finale. ( BSG 'Lay Down Your Burdens Part 2' 2.20 thoughts and a rambling comparison to Angel's 'Not Fade Away' 5:22 + Angel's 'Home' 4:22 )
5. Reading amazing Spike/Xander fanfiction. On Sunday I was overwhelmed - in the very best way - by a lot of really good Spander. I highly recommend:

Thank you to my friends who reminded me that the Oscars aren't actually about the best movies of the year. How could I actually forget that?! Silly me. I also must thank them for listening to me talk about how much I hate Queen's University (the university in my hometown) and its cultish school spirit because, for some odd reason, my annoyance with the Crash win fueled a completely unrelated rant! I am weird.
Fortunately Jon Stewart made the evening funny. If only the celebs had more of a sense of humour. *worries he will not get to host next year*
At least Ang Lee - who's one of my favourite directors - won best director! And Larry McMurtry thanking book sellers was awesome because we got to applaud two of my friends!!
My favourite moment of the show was when The Day After Tomorrow (one of my guilty pleasure movies) was included in the "movies about serious issues" montage!!!!!! That made my night because it was just too funny! Oh! I just remembered Jon Stewart and George Clooney in bed together!! *g*
I am sick. Grumble grumble. I've had this cold since Thursday and I thought I was getting better on Sunday but it came back with a vengeance. I spent 3 hours waiting to see a doctor today because I was worried it might be more than a cold (and I am neurotic), fortunately not. Of course I still feel AWFUL and I wish I'd just spent the day cuddled under a blanket.
I did see BSG 2.19 but have no coherent thoughts on it right now, aside from liking the episode. However 24 kicked ass tonight and the ending completely surprised me and made me cry (not hard considering I've been on the verge of tears all day, but still an emotional moment).
At a friend's recommendation, I'm trying to sweat the cold out but now I'm feeling feverish and my brain is all fuzzy. /whining
ETA: A BtVS/AtS community has been having shipper polls (eg. who do you like better Spike/Buffy, Spike/Dru or Spike/Harmony), which can be fun but also makes me uncomfortable because I've noticed the whole shipper thing can be divisive in fandom. Anyway, two posters for separate Spike and Angel polls said that Spike/Angel aren't listed as an option because they're not a canonical pairing. I'm too wimpy to make a comment there (maybe I should instead of posting here), but they're a canonical pairing in my book. grrr

( BSG ‘The Captain’s Hand’ (2:17) )
This episode makes me want to run out and convince everyone I meet to watch BSG. But then I’d just turn into those guys who stand at the corner of Yonge and Dundas (busy intersection in Toronto) and proselytize about Jesus.
Unrelated to BSG, I may have lost my mind but I’ve agreed to go curling with my co-workers. I went curling a couple of times back in high school and found it boring and cold. But the allure of alcohol and fun co-workers has persuaded me to try again. This decision has me feeling very Canadian right now.
Speaking of Canada, I watched the Canadian Women’s Hockey team win the gold medal on Monday with my grandpa. It wasn’t as exciting as the game between them and the U.S. in the last Olympics, but oddly enjoyable to watch a sport that Canada completely dominates (there was no doubt in my mind that Canada would win).
My grandpa used to coach hockey when he was young so we discussed the excellent technical skills of the Canadian team (he was very impressed). There was some nostalgia on his part but I got a kick out him liking the women’s team better than the men’s. Unfortunately I couldn’t obviously check out the cute girls and make comments like: “I’d totally do her,” or “She’s a total dyke” because saying that to my grandpa …AWKWARD!!
I’m still entertained that my grandpa – who’s 90 years old - likes Legally Blonde! He also mentioned he enjoyed Miss Congeniality!! I’d worry that this means his mind is getting less sharp, but I approve of enjoying a good girl-power type comedy so I’m not worried! Maybe I should hook him with Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion next?!!
ETA: I just watched the Canadian Men's Hockey team lose to Russia. No medal for the men. *shakes head*

Battlestar Galactica - Sacrifice (2.16)
It made me cry and there was angst - especially Kara angst - so all good in my books.
Gilmore Girls - A Vineyard Valentine (6.15)
I will not be won over and like Logan no matter how much the show tries to make the viewers like him!!
Supernatural - The Benders (1.15)
Oh Dean, you're the best brother ever, and did I mention sooo damn sexy?!!
24 - 2pm-3pm (5.8)
Jack Bauer once again proves that only he is capable of going undercover, thwarting terrorists, disobeying direct orders and - as an added bonus - being adorable with small children!
The Daily Show
Best joke the Daily Show staff didn't have to write: The vice president accidentally shot a 78 year old man in the face.
I'm still a couple of weeks behind on Lost, Bones, Smallville, and the Office. I must get caught up while the Olympics are on and Veronica Mars is in reruns. My friend E called me last night after she watched Smallville and told me that Clark is a bastard. When I worried that he was being mean to Lex, she reassured me that they'd had a nice romantic dinner with candles and Clark was very sweet to Lex. Now, I suspect that she MIGHT be joking, but I'm enjoying her version for now.
Now off to dinner and Capote!!!

( BSG 2.15 )
I now have another reason to love Entertainment Weekly because of this lovely review of BSG.
( Gilmore Girls 6:14 )
( Supernatural 1:14 )
The neat thing about BSG, GG and SPN (Supernatural) is that they're all good in very different ways. I love enjoying such diverse shows!!!
Today’s BtVS quote is in honour of Gilmore Girls and its George Clooney references: There's a lot of books on this list. Any of them come on tape? You know, read by George Clooney or someone cute like that? (5:2)

1. I'm still loving Battlestar Galactica!! I've finally seen "Black Market" (2:14) and really enjoyed it (not my favourite episode but still good tv). I've noticed that when I really love a show, I'll normally like every episode unless one is REALLY bad or the show veers completely off course. What I really like about BSG is that it'll frequently do episodes that are essentially character studies, like they did for "Black Market". ( Spoilers for BSG 2.14 )
2. I've given up paying attention to 24's plots (because they're getting more and more confusing and circular), and am just enjoying the 40+ minutes of adrenalin pumping insanity. David Fury (aka ex BtVS, AtS, Lost writer) wrote this week's episode, and he did a good job of writing a quintessential 24 episode: there's a mole but they're not exactly who we think they are, Jack tortures someone for information, Chloe is snarky, and there's lots of running around and urgency. Everyone's VERY SERIOUS all the time. It's cracktastic, and this season is totally addictive!!
3. Today my co-worker/friend said to me: You are a fiend with magical bunny-like powers.
I actually think this is a weirdly accurate description of me (even though it makes no sense, which is mostly why I love it). Wouldn't you love to have magical bunny-like powers?! I can't reveal what they are (because they're top secret) but they're AWESOME!!!! I am able to tell you that these powers are why Anya (from BtVS) is afraid of bunnies.
4. It totally felt like spring today (Monday) and it was JANUARY 30th. It's supposed to be above 0 (Celsius) all this week! That's totally crazy for January!! I'm normally bundled in sweaters, hats and huge jackets shivering against the minus 30 degrees Celsius with the windchill. I'm loving this warmer weather!!! I keep trying to remember that it'll be cold and snowy again, but it's hard to believe when I can go outside with no gloves and my coat open!!
5. For Harry Potter fans:
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
If you ever need to say 'Like taking candy from a baby', be sure to add 'Of course, SOME of us might find that harder than others.' Stare pointedly at him.
Anytime he enters any room, insist on entering first and announcing him grandly.
Cuddle him at random moments.
6. Did you hear? At the British Museum someone tripped on their shoelace, fell down the stairs, AND shattered 3 centuries-old Chinese vases. THIS is why I get worried when I'm in museums, these kind of freak accidents CAN happen!

The Golden Globes
I don’t think I ever want to watch another award show live again. I watched the Golden Globes on Tuesday night and fast-forwarded through commercials, blah speeches and the boring miniseries section.
Favourite moments:
- Hugh Laurie and Steve Carrel’s hilarious acceptance speeches for best actor in a tv drama and comedy respectively. It was also awesome when Lost won later (for best tv drama) and they also thanked Steve Carrel’s wife.
- Joaquin Phoenix winning for best actor in a comedy or musical, and then revealing that he’d bet against himself! Could I love him even more than I already do?!!
- Brokeback Mountain winning (and deserving) lots of awards.
- Ang Lee calling Clint Eastwood “the man” – so adorable!!
The boring parts:
- I don’t remember because I fast-forwarded through them!
Skating with Celebrities
Totally fun fluff, although I was disappointed that no “celebrities” got hurt during the episode. (I know, I’m evil.) It was funny to hear Kristy Swanson described as a “movie star”, hee! Also I loved when Lloyd Eisler (Canadian Figure Skating champion) who undeservedly lost multiple times said: “You all know that I don’t like judges.”
Smallville
Good job Smallville writers for going at least 4 episodes without a kryonite enhanced villain. Also, I’m impressed that the episode wasn’t a complete Panic Room rip off. I’m less impressed that Lana continues to live.
Did anyone else notice that when Lex was trying to tell Lana he loved her, that he was distracted by thoughts about Clark? I was giggling when he started rambling about how nice Clark’s hair is. The Clark/Lex relationship is practically canon on Smallville now.
So next week is the big character death (for the 100th episode). I just hope it’s not Clark’s dog, in typical Smallville “we always back down from doing anything daring” fashion. From what I’ve heard it actually will be one of the characters in the main credits that will die, although I don’t know who it will be. Fingers crossed that it’s Lana, although my friend’s prediction (based on comic book canon) is that it’ll be Jonathan Kent.
My Name is Earl
This is definitely one of my favourite Earl episodes so far!!
Favourite moments:
- Earl calling Kenny his “homosexual friend” (it sounds very endearing the way Earl says it).
- Earl putting the picture of him, Joy, Darnell and the kids at Joy & Darnell’s wedding on his desk.
- The “old gang” doing the slo-mo type power walk to the office.
- Randy in a boardroom talking and pointing to a pie chart (with his 4 empty beer cans on the ground).
- Joy not telling Darnell and the kids about the toe because she was worried their reactions wouldn’t be real enough. Joy’s completely fake horror.
- Darnell’s continued horror when they’re getting the cheque for the toe incident.
The Office
Despite the high cringe factor, this show has wormed it’s way into my heart. Oh Michael, you are the worst secret keeper ever! I am so rooting for Jim and Pam; they may be my favourite couple on tv right now. They’re so adorable. I loved Dwight in surveillance mode and his complete obliviousness to Oscar’s gayness.
24
( Such big spoilers that I’m using a spoiler cut!! )
Battlestar Galatica 2.12
( More huge huge spoilers for everything up to episode 2.12!!! )
What I love best about BSG is that it always explores the complexities of a situation and never portrays anything as all good or all evil. It reminds me of Everwood in the way it can maneuver the viewer through a variety of perspectives all of which could potentially be “right”. I’m so glad that I didn’t discover BSG until 2006 because otherwise my Best TV Shows of 2005 list would have expanded to 12 shows, since BSG is definitely one of the best shows on tv right now.
I have so much love for my tv shows right now!!!
