I feel like just yesterday it was jacket weather and now it's insanely hot. My normally cool, north-facing, shady apartment is stifling and hot. Grumble grumble. Of course it's this hot - it's because my parents will be visiting from Kingston (and staying with me in my Jr. one bedroom apartment). When I lived in Kingston and whenever we'd visit Toronto in the summer it'd be this unbearably hot. We'd sometimes go to the movies just for the air-conditioning (which is not why I like to go the movies - I go to see a movie).

Fortunately I'm having a blast hanging out with my friends and watching Veronica Mars. I love the episode that aired on Thursday (Meet John Smith). I'm convinced (although I have no stats or evidence to back up my statement) that it's one of the first shows to explore issues of transsexuality completely unrelated to crime. I've heard that recently both Cold Case and CSI have aired episodes that dealt with murders of transsexuals. What's particularly awesome about this episode of VM is that it deals with how families of transsexuals react - which is a much more relevant issue for trans folks.

For very spoilery stuff from the VM episode: Read more... )
