I am excited to share more of my opinions with you! :D

[livejournal.com profile] kittyzams asked about Dancing With the Stars

I don’t understand the negativity that many viewers direct towards the judges. I think they’re overall very good at giving honest feedback. Apparently audiences have the “concrit is bad” attitude because it baffles me when they boo the judges when they give actual constructive criticism. Agh! The whole idea is that the celebrities are supposed to be improving so it’s good that the judges are actually giving them advice how to.

That being said, I don’t think the judges are perfect. And recently I’ve been feeling that they may be subconsciously scoring the women a bit lower and being harder on them. I don’t think the judges are afraid of holding back when someone has let them down – and they’ll do that equally for men and women. But, for example, last week I felt they were much harder on Marissa and Marlee than necessary whereas the only guy they were really hard on was Mario (which I felt was more justified). Now I am pro concrit (as mentioned above) so this is more about something that I think is happening subconsciously on the judges’ part in an unproductive way. And c’mon, wouldn’t it be awesome if a woman won after so many men winning?!

[livejournal.com profile] reremouse asked about Spander

I have many Spander opinions! I think that on my flist there are people who agree with me but not necessarily in the Spander fandom at large. Here’s some things I can think of:

- Xander isn’t taken for granted/ignored/dismissed by his friends
- Spike isn’t taken for granted/ignored/dismissed by the Scoobies (and I think they treat him very well considering he’s tried to kill all of them, often multiple times)
- They haven’t always been secretly longingly in love with each other. I like the idea that they’re more like Xander/Cordy, with the whole bickering and supposed hatred and so much passion (and I think that Xander/Cordy is a great argument for why Spander works!)
- Buffy and Xander are really good friends! Xander doesn’t secretly resent Buffy. Sure she can do things that hurt Xander but he tells her! He’s always the first to call Buffy on her bad behaviour. And vice versa! In fact, I’d argue that Xander has a way more open dialogue and closeness with Buffy than he does with Willow (definitely by the end of the series, I really believe this is true). This relates to Spander cause I see this come up a lot in Spander fics
- Xander doesn’t secretly wish he could be Spike’s childe (and can I just say that I really hate the word childe?)
- Spike wouldn’t call Xander “Xan”. He’s more likely to keep calling him Harris, or maybe the very occasional Xander. Boy and pet and love also work
- Spike doesn’t automatically top when they have sex
- Xander is funny!! He is a funny guy!! He makes jokes and wisecracks! In fact, even in his darkest hour (after the eye thing), he’s trying to crack jokes in the hospital. I think people forget the funny (which admittedly is very hard to write). I really believe you can write fics with darker themes that still have Xander’s humour in them – just a darker humour.
- Spike is a complex guy: he can be very sweet at some times but he also really loves violence. He can be unpredictable, which is why I love him! He’s not just a sappy romantic or a completely violent guy.
- Unless there’s a really good reason (and not that Anya left it), Xander wouldn’t use a flowery or vanilla body wash. He would use whatever cheap soap he grew up on like Zest or whatever’s on sale.
- Concrit is a good thing! We should all continue to strive to be better writers and have good betas.

So that’s just what I thought of today, I’m sure if I went through fics I’ve read over the years, I’d have an even longer list! I do want to say that I really respect that there’s so many authors still writing in the Spander fandom and hope that that continues, even if we have different ideas on what makes Spander tick. It’s an awesome pairing and I don’t want to see it die out!

[livejournal.com profile] darkhavens asked about Reaper

I also love Sock ([livejournal.com profile] darkhavens mentioned her love of Sock)!! He’s so awesome! I’ve loved that actor since his Breaker High days (that Canadian TV show that also starred a young Ryan Gosling), so it’s wonderful to see him doing well!

The thing that most frustrates me about Reaper is one of the many things that bothered me about Smallville (when I watched it): how the guy doesn’t tell the romantic interest about his secret. One of the things I love about Buffy is that so many people know her “secret identity." All her friends know, even frenemies like Cordelia know. And clearly by the end of school, every one of her classmates does. *gets teary just thinking about the Class Protector Award and them all fighting in Graduation*

Ahem, back to Reaper! So I really wish that they hadn’t made it that Andi can’t be told. I know they’re trying to not hook them up too soon, but I just think she could know and there could still be bumps to getting them together. Besides, I’d be way happier if Sam and Sock got together. Or if Sam, Sock and Ben admitted they’re in a happy threesome relationship.

And since I'm really enjoying giving my unpopular opinions: if you're dying to get me to let loose about something else you can comment here or go here (my fandoms/tv shows I watch are listed).
