cordelianne: (Spike TV & Pacey!)
I'm feeling hungover, not from alcohol, but from trying to watch both the US Vice-Presidential debate (I ended up fast-forwarding, cannot handle Palin) and the Canadian English Leaders Debate (Steve Paikin: best moderator ever!!! As one of my coworkers said Steve Paikin won the debate). So I think it's the perfect day to post about TV, but the fun kind of TV! :D

I know you've all been dying to know what shows I'm watching this year. I'm trying to be ruthless (which is hysterical cause I'm so not a ruthless person) and cut back on my shows. So here's the Shows I'm Watching and Loving

Mondays
How I Met Your Mother: One of the smartest, funniest shows on tv which consistently makes me laugh - and has characters I truly care about.
The Big Bang Theory: This show snuck up on me last year and won me over, especially in terms of how Sheldon's OCDness manifests in often hysterical ways (his inability to deal with keeping a secret is particularly amusing). Also, how can I not enjoy watching a bunch of geeks geek out weekly?!
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles: The first season had me interested enough to tune into the season premiere this year, and I'm just loving this show. I like how things are progressing and I'm genuinely entertained *and* look forward to new episodes. I enjoy it more than Heroes, and chose to watch SCC over Heroes (and Chuck).
Dancing with Stars: Okay, I'm not necessary loving it so far, but that's just because of the big time commitment at the beginning. I can't wait till the Monday performances stop being 2 hours, I'm so tired that night that I can't stay awake long enough to be engaged.

Tuesdays:
House: This is an example of a show I had ruthlessly decided to not watch this season... and am of course watching. It continues to have engaging character arcs that I can't stop watching, especially with the current state of the House/Wilson relationship!
Privileged: This show is absolutely delightful! Johanna Garcia (Cheyanne on Reba) charms as the quirky, smart tutor of these spoiled rich girls. It's such fun, with fantastic lines and witty banter. It helps fill the void Gilmore Girls left.

You'll note that I'm not watching Fringe, I checked it out and it's just not for me. Also, I checked out 90210 and was so intensely bored by the second week, that I stopped watching.

Wednesdays:
The New Adventures of Old Christine: I have a weakness for sitcoms, it's a genre I love, but only if the sitcom is done well. And this is a super funny sitcom in which Julia Louis-Dreyfus absolutely shines.
So You Think You Can Dance Canada: After loving the American one this summer I cannot resist checking out our version of the show, which so far is not disappointing.

I had previously watched Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money and Criminal Minds but have given up them up in a genuinely ruthless decision. Oh! And I almost forgot about Bones. After its appalling season premiere, it confirmed me for that I wouldn't watch anymore despite my love of Booth.

Thursdays:
Ugly Betty: I haven't watched yet this season (a friend and I save up episodes and watch together) but I'm excited for the campy fun show to return.
Grey's Anatomy: Sure, it didn't have the best season last year but I love so many of the characters and am especially excited for Callie/Erica so I'm there! Plus, I need a soap I can get involved with and that'll make me cry.
The Office: The first episode ROCKED! I love this show, it continues to be an all-time favourite show of mine.
30 Rock: It's not on yet, but I already can't wait especially with Tina Fey reminding me of her awesomeness on SNL. I am totally confident I will continue to love this show.

I dropped My Name is Earl, it slowly lost its luster for me.

Sunday:
The Amazing Race: Yeah, so I was supposed to be ruthless and stop watching this show (and actually haven't even seen the first ep yet) but once I heard it was back on, I just couldn't resist it!

Other Shows
Friday Night Lights: Our show is back! I'm so thrilled by the season premiere, the show seems to have found itself again and returned to its heart (which is what made us love it in the first place). Definitely one of the best shows on TV.
Greek: This was my summer guilty pleasure TV and I am totally hooked on the fun, witty and light-hearted soap. Also, this show wins for having one of the best gay characters and best storylines for a gay character. Plus, it has such awesome pop culture references and banter that it hearkens to Gilmore Girls (albeit this is a fluffier show).

So that's what I'm watching! Everybody Hates Chris will likely be added to the list when it returns. Now to see if I can actually stay on top of all this TV while going to school as well! :D
