On my way to work I had a freaky experience. At some subway stations there's these automatic entrances (ie. no actual people work at these entrances). There's floor to ceiling turnstiles made of really sturdy-looking materials which turn, like a revolving door, when you swipe your metropass or put in a token and thus allow you to enter the subway station. I should add at this point, that I'm TERRIFIED of getting stuck in one of these turnstile door things, because if you're stuck, there's nothing to climb over. I've actually seen a woman get stuck in one of these turnstiles so this is not a totally insane fear.
Anyway, I swipe my metropass and am quickly went through the turnstile when I'm half-way in and the door stops. My heart starts pounding because even though I'm pushing on it nothing is happening. I turn around and see A GUY CRAMMED IN BEHIND ME!!!!!!!! I just about have a heart attack. I yell "Holy crap man!!" Yes, I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't even really swear, despite being completely freaked out. I guess he was trying not to pay, and sneak in behind me?
Fortunately the door had caught on him and my shoulder bag had stopped him from getting in all the way (yay bulky bag!). He immediately jumped back and I pushed my way through into the subway station. I walked really really quickly down to the platform, and didn't see him again. I am still freaked out about this.
Whenever I went outside for the rest of the day I had strangers talking to me, or asking me if the salsa I was buying in the grocery store is good. On a normal day I would have enjoyed everyone's good spirits about the warm weather but the turnstile experience had me all jumpy.
Enough of RL, on to TV talk!
House
I do enjoy some good angst and drama on my tv shows, but I don't like seeing intensely realistic depictions of violence against women. So the first few minutes of House really threw me because it was really intense. I actually became convinced that I had recorded the wrong show (or my PVR had screwed up), and fast forwarded through it to the credits. I was relieved to discover that it had been consensual actions that we'd seen but it still creeps me out that it was initially played as a man attacking a woman in a highly sexualized way without us knowing it was consensual. Um, I don't remember much else from the episode other than House getting the woman's hand all blue which was kind of cool.
The Amazing Race
I felt bad for Dani and Danielle getting eliminated but I won't really miss them. I'm totally cheering for Lori & Dave (adorable and in-love geeky couple) and BJ & Tyler (fun and cool hippies).
Teachers
Pretty funny. I'll definitely keep watching it because it has some real potential.
Veronica Mars 'The Rapes of Graff' 2:16
I really enjoyed this episode, far more than last week. There kept being moments in the episode when I'd turn to spookymonkey and say "This is why I love Veronica" (ie. when she poured the beer on the guy's shirt TWICE, and then tasered him!!). Also, she exposed a creepy frat and totally threw their "points" system back in their face.
George Michael (Michael Cera) and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) from Arrested Development were awesome! Although I was slightly disappointed that they weren't dating in the episode, it was still awesome to see them and I loved their roles. I'm SO VERY HAPPY that George Michael did not turn out to the rapist (er, in this episode because one never knows what the future holds), because I love his portrayal of a slightly dorky but decent guy, and I would have been very upset if he wasn't that kind of guy. Also he reminds me of my brother when he was a teenager, which would compound my distress if George Michael was evil. I liked that Maeby played a different role than she had on Arrested Development, and that she threw the guy's hair all over the place.
I particularly liked the scene when Veronica talks to Maeby about her date rape. I liked how Veronica didn't explicitly say that she had had a similar experience but what she said definitely spoke to that. Very well done scene.
It was neat that they brought back Troy, and Veronica made me love her more by being skeptical of him (the whole scene with the "two truths and a lie" was excellent). However I also respect her for investigating the situation and being open to the possibility that it wasn't him. And when it wasn't him I liked that Veronica didn't embrace him and retained her skepticism. Smart girl, that Veronica.
I adore that Keith was helping Cliff out!! Cliff is always fun, so that storyline was a nice balance to the date-rape one without being too ridiculously flippant (since there are concerns behind what's happened with Logan's files). Lamb and Madison?!! Best campaign slogan ever: 18 - It's legal!!! hee!
I'm not totally comfortable with the Logan/Hannah storyline. One of my issues with it is that she looks so insanely young (her extreme skinniness increases her youthful look), that it seems weird for them to be hooking up. I probably would have preferred that Logan had stuck to the break-up and let her think he's a big jerk but secretly angst about it. Although, it's VERY Logan to basically to sabotage himself, and now there's most likely going to be some bad ramifications (especially with his case files missing).
The Keith and Veronica scenes were awesome, as usual. And, I enjoyed that the ending also brought us back to the bus crash mystery and the Fitzpatricks.
Whoa, I did not expect to talk that much about the episode.
Bones
Liking it so far. Still loving David Boreanaz. *sigh* This line made me giggle: She wants the plate, Ben, not the muffin.
Before I finish watching Bones, I just remembered this discussion my friends and I had about Snakes on a Plane which I thought I'd share:
Me: blah blah blah explaining about Snakes on a Plane.
Friend one: It's like they're combining two different fears together. So the sequel will be Spiders in an Elevator?
Friend two: And then there will be Lizards in a Closet.
Me: That sounds like a porn film.
ETA: I forgot to pimp

I'm always behind on my tv shows, so I can relate to the not watching yet. It was a good tv night though!
Also, eeep to the scary turnstile experience. I really, really will not tell you a story on L&O:CI in which something like that featured.
Yes, I'm very very glad you didn't tell me about the L&O: CI episode. *shudders at nightmare possibilities*
I'm proud to say that despite being freaked, I'm still using the turnstiles but am being alert to avoid any repeat incidents.
