BTVS Fic: Carrots (Willow, G, drabble)

I have completed my first drabble ever (from my request for prompts post)!! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] savoytruffle for her continuing help and support, and for just being her!

For [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88 who requested: Willow reading Anne of Green Gables, either the first time or a repeat time. If you want/have space, you could slip in some reaction to Buffy or Xander in the mix.

Carrots
by Cordelianne

Happily ever afters fade when she closes the book and runs a finger over the creases in the spine. Rose-tinted sunsets and flights of fancy aren’t in the cards for this redhead – not a snippet – who’d love for a certain boy to call her ‘carrots.’

Here the cemeteries have more than just imaginary ladies in white. The girl most likely to break slates is most likely to carry stakes. And hit the boy with a desk.

There mayn’t be a god in the heavens – demons walk the earth – but she’s not alone. The three of them can make things right.

Oh, this is lovely! I like the reference to "The Pack" and the sense that Willow both loses and gains when she crosses over from the fictive world to the real one. Thanks so much for writing this. :)

Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks for the awesome prompt! I really enjoyed writing it, especially exploring the differences - and odd parallels - between the Anne of Green Gables world and Willow's. *g*

Awesome! Just awesome.
The girl most likely to break slates is most likely to carry stakes.
I love the repetition of the 'a' sound there, very clever :)
So many wonderful references between Willow and Anne as well. Eeeee, loved it :)

this drabble is so deftly executed, weaving the book with the show. it's great.

This was just lovely! Willow is totally the "Anne girl" of the Buffy group! :)

Oh my god! I totally love this! You really, really have to do that crossover someday. Just so much fun. I am especially madly in love with this, Here the cemeteries have more than just imaginary ladies in white. The girl most likely to break slates is most likely to carry stakes. And hit the boy with a desk. You've left me with a smile on my face. *smoothes* And hee, the only Willow icon I have uploaded right now is a sad one. Shh... Willow doesn't want us to know that she's totally an AoGG fangirl! Teee-heee. ;D

Oh yay!!! I'm thrilled you loved it!!! It was easiest to start with this prompt because I have been thinking about - but not writing - the crossover, which I do plan to write. The part you quoted is my favourite! And I won't tell that's Willow's a total AoGG fangirl!! *smoothes*

This is really just gorgeous. Wow. It has such a visceral feeling of "Willow" to it, and just really makes me so proud of her--of all of them. Well done!
