And I think I'm kinda gay. (btvs 3:16)

cordelianne: (But I'm a Cheerleader kissing)
For a change of pace, I thought I'd do a "here's what cordelianne did" kind of post. Of course there's still talk about fandomy stuff because, well I'm me, and Pride is (theoretically) all about celebrating who we are.

Cordelianne's Pride Adventures

Friday
- Because of my three day week-end I decided to take advantage of Friday and do all the chores I've been meaning to do, which meant I really only did about half of them (I did really exciting things like laundry, grocery shopping, sorta cleaning, getting rid of some old clothes, etc.).
- And my "do the chores" plan was partially thwarted by my realization that the cute brown slip dress I'd gotten for the Dyke March would totally show my underwear if I bent over (although I was fine with the extensive cleavage I would be showing!) .... so I had to go out and buy boxer briefs.
- Re-watched Bend it Like Beckham (which I just bought for only $7.00) and cried at the feminist empowering moments. Then I watched some Arrested Development season one.

Saturday
- Brunch with some friends, in which one friend revealed that she'd spent an entire day reading Battlestar Galactica fanfiction (she knows of my love for and involvement in the fanfic). I now wish I'd said something like "Welcome to the dark side" or something witty. I think there was just squeeing. I've since sent her an email with lots and lots of LJ links for BSG fanfic to try and lure her here!!
- At work, I changed into the slip dress and reapplied sunscreen (because of my extreme paleness).
- During the Dyke March, I got to ride in my work's "float" (really a truck pulling a trailer with an inflatable air mattress bed in it) but I still felt all princess-y and it was definitely a fun way to experience the march.
- Realized I shouldn't have worried about the underwear showing since most of my co-workers were just in their underwear or less.
- Went to work and actually did work (I know! But there were things I had to do, ie. payroll). But I did the work in my slip dress!
- Er, I then went home, stopping to buy 2 birthday cakes for customer service representatives (csrs) I supervise on the way.
- I then watched LOTS and LOTS of BtVS/AtS fanvids! I've seen a few excellent ones before (basically all rec'ed by [livejournal.com profile] femmenerd) but never this many. I got inspired for a fanvid marathon after [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue mentioned her favourite Spike/Xander vid. She very kindly linked me to this post of hers which has recs for all sorts of BtVS/AtS vids!! I particularly love "Whatever", "Jealous of Your Cigarette" (S/X vid!) and "Measure of a Man" (lots of slash!). (I didn't link to the vids, because those links and many more awesome ones are on [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue's post and I highly recommend checking out the post if you haven't already.) Oh! And "Wonderwall" (Willow & Xander) made me cry and cry, and then pull out my season 6 DVD and re-watch the ending, and cry some more. Yes, I was in a sappy mood.
- IMed with [livejournal.com profile] savoytruffle.
- Returned to the office at midnight to give a csr his gift and birthday cake. Ran into a friend (yay [livejournal.com profile] stretchmarks!!) and we hung out briefly.
- On the way home I tried to get bubble tea but the restaurant had run out of tapioca (my favourite part!), then I tried to get a cab but couldn't (busy time on Saturday night) so I took the subway home. I did succeed at getting a fruit smoothie from the 24-hour Second Cup by my house but I'm convinced the woman who served me was totally high (for a few minutes I worried she didn't even actually work there). The good news was the smoothie was yummy and I watched her make it so I knew it would be alright. Still, very odd.
- Possibly watched more fanvids!

Sunday
- I did succeed at getting a small part of my shoulder sunburned (I think my purse strap rubbed off the sunscreen), so I had to find a top that would cover my shoulders and not be too hot. I ended up wearing a very cute but impractical outfit (ie. short skirt) to be sitting on curbs and on the ground.
- Went into the office and gave another csr a gift and birthday cake. Oh! One of the csrs described my legs as "milky white" which I'm going to use from now on instead of "very very pale".
- Met my friend, spookymonkey, and wandered around Church Street. We got fresh squeezed lemonade (very yummy!) and overpriced food (I got a tasty veggie roti). We talked a lot.
- Listened to Po'Girl who are fabulous!! And we saw Oh Susanna who is also awesome! (You can check out music clips for both Po'Girl and Oh Susanna at those links.)
- Came home exhausted from the crowds, the heat, and sitting on pavement.
- I shared the fanvid rec post with [livejournal.com profile] electricalgwen and believe I have her as obsessed as I am with vid watching. Oh, and of course I watched more vids!!!
- To cap off Pride I watched But I'm a Cheerleader, one of my favourite movies!! (My icon is from the movie!)

I hope you all had a good week-end!!!

Sounds like a cool weekend.
I hope you're bringing the slip dress to Writercon *g*

Yeah, it was a fun weekend! Exhausting but fun!

Oh! I should bring the slip dress to Writercon! What an excellent idea! *g*

Wow, sounds like a very fun and proud weekend! Yay for parades! Sounds like the weather cooperated nicely.

Too bad about the bubble tea, but I'm glad you got a smoothie. I recently got the innocent (http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/) smoothie recipe book, and am having great fun making various fruit combinations (since my SO moved home and brought the blender.)

I also like the description "milky white" (as opposed to "ghost-pale" or "whatever) - makes it sound like a highly desirable state. ;)

And YAY! for vids! You are an evol influence on me *g* and I laughed my head off at "Whatever". And went "awww" at most of the others.

Eee, and great movies! But I'm a Cheerleader has been on my list of things-to-watch for a while but my local video rental place sucks. We've been following the World Cup. Sort of. I keep having to work during England games!

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night we went to a small early music concert (baroque/harpsichord), chatted with the conductor during intermission, and got invited back to the post-concert party at his house to see his collection of early keyboard instruments. (If possible, I need to work the line "Want to come see my virginal?" into a fic, lol!) Saturday involved a trip to "the shark place" (aquarium) with a marine-biologically-inclined 5 year old - saw sharks, rays (petted a couple!), oodles of different kinds of fish, divers being mobbed by fish at feeding time, a python, a tarantula, poisonous frogs, electric eels, otters, about 200 terrapins, anemones, morays, and...a dual air- and water-breathing giant catfish that you apparently catch using bars of soap for bait. Honestly.

The weather was perfect! My mom always says that the last weekend in June is the best time for planning any outdoor activities because the weather is always good. And she's totally right!

I still haven't gotten a bubble tea and I've been craving one soooo much. Oh! Those innocent smoothies look neat - what a cool name! And yay for blender, I wish I had one!

Yes, I'm all pleased about the "milky white", it sounds so much nicer than "god, your legs are pale" (which is what I normally hear). *g*

Yay for being an evol influence! mwahahaha! "Whatever" is soooo funny! I got teary for many of them as well. It really did rejuvenate my love for the shows.

I hope you get a chance to see But I'm a Cheerleader soon! It's very funny and a neat satire on constructions of gender and sexuality. It's also really cute. That's awesome that you've been following the World Cup (what you can see)! I've been sort of out of it, but I'll always know when a country's won because people drive around honking horns and waving flags.

That's excellent that you had a good weekend! The concert sounds really neat. I'd forgotten to tell you that on Tuesday night I went to the big Tafelmusik summer institute concert - it was excellent! My friend had a small solo in it. I can't remember what they performed. I'll have to tell you once I'm at home (where the programme is).
If possible, I need to work the line "Want to come see my virginal?" into a fic, lol! heeeeeee! That is so funny! Yes, you must find a way because that's hysterial. It would be very entertaining if someone said that to Spike because I can totally picture the look he'd give them.

Oooh "the shark place" sounds very fun, and you got to pet some rays!! and water-breathing giant catfish that you apparently catch using bars of soap for bait. Honestly. teehee! That's very bizarre! *g*

Sounds like a fabulous weekend. Your adventures with slip dresses and underwear made me giggle. Esp. this: Realized I shouldn't have worried about the underwear showing since most of my co-workers were just in their underwear or less. Hee.

Oh! One of the csrs described my legs as "milky white" which I'm going to use from now on instead of "very very pale".
I'm totally stealing that. I've just about given up on having anything but very very pale legs and goshdarnit "milky white" sounds so much better. *g*

It was an awesome weekend! I did feel pretty silly about my underwear showing concerns when a bunch of the girls I supervise were topless and/or wearing really revealing underwear. Ah well, I was comfortable.

Yes, "milky white" is such a better description of very very pale legs. Mine also never go beyond pale, they'll get a few freckles but they never get darker, whereas my arms and shoulders will (of course it's normally just lots and lots of freckles!). *g*

Yay! It sounds like you had so much fun! I'm giggling about all of your adventures with the dress. *g* You should send me a picture of it! Yes! You sound like such a nice supervisor, I love how you brought the employees cake! I would totally love to work under you. *hugs*

Yes! Much fun was had! I'm glad the dress adventures entertained you - I was amused by my neurotics. But I was comfortable with what I wore, and I felt cute! I will send you pictures! I don't have a digital camera so I'm waiting till my work uploads them. I've seen some of the photos and I'm actually pleased at how I look. :)

Yay! I'm very pleased to hear I sound like a nice supervisor. And cake is sooo important!! Although I didn't eat any because I was already eating lots and lots of bad food over the weekend. *hugs*

You will have to comment on my meme post!! I'm heading to bed now but I'm hoping to say nice things about you tomorrow. *smooches* and *smoothes*

Yes! Yes! Forward me the pics when you get them! I bet you looked super cute!

I will comment to your meme post right now! I'm working my way through my flist because I am woefully behind. Though that is due to all sorts of fun in RL, so yay! *smooches*

Oh man, I was so exhausted! I still feel like I'm recovering! I don't personally have any pictures of me in the slip dress, my work may have some. Of course I don't like to post pictures of me... *g*

don't like posting pics
Ah, but that's what my e-mail address is for! :-> Actually, I don't blame you, you have to watch out for the crazies out there. I don't hesitate to post pictures of myself because of privacy issues ... I just don't *like* pictures of myself.

Wow, what an awesome, varied and incredibly busy weekend you had :) You're such a nice person to buy colleagues birthday cakes :)
I am very pale too - it's a bother isn't it? Always having to think of hats and sunscreen and long sleeved shirts :)
And you managed to squeeze so much fannish activity in - I'm so pleased. Wheeee! :)
[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com wrote:

Yes! It was such a busy week-end! Exhausting but fun. I must admit that I didn't come up with the birthday cake tradition. When I was a csr I used to love the birthday cakes and gifts, so it's fun to continue that for the csrs. Although I sing happy birthday to them, which I suspect is not a gift (since I have a horrible singing voice! *g*).

The paleness is such a bother! I was wearing so much sunscreen over the week-end and then I would feel sticky and ucky. Every time I'd go home I'd have a shower.

The fannish activity was a wonderful counterpart to all the crowds, I enjoyed sitting and mainlining BtVS vids, so awesome!! *hugs*

I missed this post!!!! Oh, I'm so glad you liked those vids! "Wonderwall" made me burst into tears the first time I saw it. God, what a perfect song for them. And "Whatever" can make me laugh when nothing else can. "Hey, Bradley, you little bitch!" "Nada mucho!" Hahahaha! Good times.

I'm so happy you had fun with those! I'll YSI some more when I get a chance (some that aren't up any longer.)

And I got the first hand version of the slip dress story! *squees*

Thanks sooo much for that link!! I was basically mainlining the vids on Saturday and Sunday night. I haven't been allowing myself to watch them for the last couple of days because they're so damn addictive! I was just talking about "Wonderwall" and "Whatever" tonight, and my friends (who are BtVS fans) now want to see the vids!! And you're so right, "Counting Bodies Like Sheep" is the Best.Vid.Ever.

And I'd love to see MORE vids! wheeeee!

And you did get the first hand version of the slip dress story!! Yay!!
