cordelianne: (Vmars Dick Is...)
Hello all!! It's been a while since I updated. I can't believe it's June 4th already!! The days are just flying by. It's been crazy stressful at work recently so there's been days when I'll keep refreshing my flist but then don't have the mental capacity to actually comment at the time, let alone write an entry. But we shall speak no more of this no more!

Good news!

  • On Thursday I received an email notifying me that Xander 2.0 is nominated at the Serenity on the Hellmouth Awards in the Buffy and Xander categories!!!! I'm extremely touched and flattered that someone liked it enough to nominate it. Thank you!! I'm very excited about the nomination but am also shy about it which is why it's taken me a few days to post about it.

  • Not my news but still very exciting: My friend is selling his house and moving to the south of France to write a book (on Organizing). Even though I'm sad that he's leaving the city, I'm so thrilled for him because I know it will be an amazing experience. I'm also very jealous and it makes me want to do crazy things like quit my job until I remember I don't have a house to sell.

Despite the fact that my little corner of LJ is a wonderful and positive space (*loves everyone on my flist* You all give me such joy!!), I've managed to run across those various fandom hate memes and posts. I think it's fine to have a sense of humour about ourselves and not take things too seriously, but fandom - or my idea of fandom - should be about fun, and seeing the word "hate" bandied about distresses me. Maybe it's because there's been some upsetting things happening in Canada recently (eg. Massive arrest of suspected terrorists in Toronto, whose targets included downtown Toronto, and PM Stephen Harper to re-open same-sex marriage issue and have a free vote in the fall), and that's making me more sensitive. Nonetheless, I feel that there's enough hate and badness in real life, that we don't need to bring the hate to fandom. (I think ranting and critical thought is good, it's this whole hate thing that bothers me.) Sure I take my writing seriously, but I'm ultimately here for the fun and because it brightens my day. I say we should have less hate, more love!!!!!

    Don't you want my love?

So in the spirit of fun, and love for Veronica Mars (which has been the target of much hate recently), I have a fun Dick-centric drabble. (See I haven't forgotten about my drabble requests, I'm just really really slow! But I've been writing lots recently, so yay!)

For [livejournal.com profile] brandil who requested: Either Logan, Weevil, or Dick. You choose. I chose Dick because I've been writing a Logan/Weevil fic ... so watch this space!!

No spoilers for the show, set really anytime during the series.
Warning: Dick is, well, a dick.

    The Ladies
    by Cordelianne

The cleavage is okay, he’s seen better. But awesome ass, something to really grab onto. Okay. She’s on the “to do” list, he decides. He nods and flashes her the Dick Casablancas get-the-girls smile. She swishes by.

His eyes sweep the room and pass by Veronica. No way is he getting involved with that, even if she’s smokin’ and – from Duncan and Logan’s glazed looks – gives wicked blow jobs.

His head whips around when he spies Marcie leaning forward, giving the girls some air. Yeah, that’s more like it. He turns around to take it all in.

    “Lookin’ good ladies.”

Congratulations on the nomination. And holy god, you stopped thinking about Logan/Weevil and started writing. I may build you a shrine. Love the drabble, you've really captured Dick -- it's funny to think he has that much going through his head (as dumb as he is you'd think it'd just be rocks) but there's probably even more going on under that top layer of thoughts, I'd hate to think what they were though :: shudders::

Thanks!! I'm pleased you love the drabble! Yeah, it's definitely a little scary getting into Dick's head. I was a little freaked out by how easy he was to write and am not sure I'd want to explore those other layers. *shudder*

I'm very pleased about actually writing the Logan/Weevil fic! It's still in the early draft/editing stage but I'm hoping to have it ready to post soon!
